Can I bring my own telescopes to the Centennial Star Party?
As with all Star Parties, only members of LAAS may set up telescopes at the event.
How Can I Join the Los Angeles Astronomical Society?
You can apply to join here! Anyone with an interest in astronomy or space is encouraged to join; you do not need to own a telescope or have any prior astronomy experience.
How do I get to Griffith Observatory?
Griffith Observatory is accessible by public transport through the DASH shuttle which runs in Los Feliz from 10am until 10pm. The shuttle leaves on average every twenty minutes from the Sunset/Vermont metro stop. There are several stops in Los Feliz and inside Griffith Park. Regular fare is 50¢ cash, or 35¢ via tap card.

Car access is available via N. Vermont or Fern Dell Pl. entrances on Los Feliz Blvd; follow the “Observatory Traffic” signs to the top of the hill. Please note that very limited street parking will be available along Western Canyon Rd and W. Observatory Rd. The upper parking lot will be unavailable, and the lower parking field at N Vermont Canyon Rd will be in use for the Greek Theater.
The observatory can also be accessed by foot/bike via sidewalk or scenic trails; expect about 30 minutes’ walk from either entrance.
